DUSHANBE, Oct 17 – Sputnik. Iranian Defense Minister General Mohammadreza Ashtiani arrived in Tajikistan at the head of a high-ranking delegation.

It is noted that he was met at Dushanbe International Airport by the head of the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan, Sherali Mirzo, the First Deputy Minister of Defense, the head of the General Staff of the Republic’s Armed Forces, the Ambassador of Iran to Tajikistan and other high-ranking officials.
Thus, during the trip, the head of the Iranian Ministry of Defense is scheduled to meet with his Tajik counterpart Sherali Mirzo.
“The parties will discuss the development and expansion of cooperation between countries in the field of defense, as well as ways to implement relevant agreements,” Iranian media emphasized.
In addition, General Mohammadreza Ashtiani is expected to meet with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
Previously, Iran expressed interest in joining the agreement of the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC).The issue of the republic’s possible entry into the IAC will be discussed by the Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the participating states.
