Iranian and Syrian officials met in Damascus to discuss ways of develop economic cooperation and establishing partnerships and investment projects between the businessmen of the two countries.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the federations of Syrian chambers of industry and commerce, the president of the Syrian-Iranian Chamber of Commerce, members of the Board of Directors of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and the Iranian Ambassador to Syria Hussein Akbari, along with his delegation from the Iranian Embassy, SANA reported on Sunday.
Participants in the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Damascus Chamber of Industry, discussed a number of issues related to facilitating trade exchange, customs duties, standard specifications, banking and financial relations, the possibility of creating joint free zones between the two countries, the holding of specialized exhibitions and direct sales in Iran with the aim of introducing Syrian products to Iranian consumers.
Akbari indicated that the Syrian and Iranian governments are focused on strengthening cooperation, creating the legal infrastructure for joint economic work and giving the private sector the opportunity to contribute to solving many economic problems of the two countries.
